Pancasila democracy does not imply coercive spirit of one side – whether strong or weak – against the other, Pancasila democracy is imbued with the awareness of self-restraint, the awareness of willing to sacrifice its interest for the sake of serving greater interest, namely the national interest and the interest of the common people.
There are several primary elements that make a nation strong. Or on the contrary, that make nations weak and divided. Among the most important elements are the spirit of nationalism, unity and a sense of togetherness. We have to draw valuable lessons from the experiences of other nations and, furthermore, our own experience from the Independence Proclamation until today.
The Indonesian nation which, for the past years, has started to build up again its future, has already experienced the meaning and the contents of this new relationship.
